Detroit Unreal Estate Agency

In collaboration with curator Femke Lutgerink and architect Andrew Herscher I started in 2008 the renowned Detroit Unreal Estate Agency. As such, we were mentioned in the For sale: The 100 dollar House article in the New York Times in 2009 artikel. A piece of writing by Toby Barlow that kickstarted the Detroit hype. In 2012 Dutch author Geert Mak referred to the Unreal Estate Agency in his book Reizen zonder John. Op zoek naar Amerika.  

In 2009 I taught a MFA course at the Dutch Art Institute on Detroit. As a result Andrew Herscher, Edwin Gardner and I published the “Love and Hate Atlas” in Volume magazine amongst others with work by  Jimini Hignett and Lado Darakhvelidze. Ana Dzokic and Marc Neelen of Stealth Unlimited invited the Detroit Unreal Estate Agency in 2009 to contribute to T.I.C.A.B – Tirana International Contemporary Art Biannual. From 2010 – 2013 I co-curuted the Power House residency a project by Design 99 supported by Mondriaan Foundation.
